Welcome to Espaniel

Espaniel Kennels is located in Woodend, a small township just North of Christchurch, New Zealand. We show and breed solid colour English Cocker Spaniels (Black or Gold).

We limit the number of dogs we keep so that we can give each one the attention they need.  At the moment we have our stud dog  “Guinness” (Ch Espaniel Viva La Difference) two girls including “Portia” (Ch Espaniel Secret Memoire) and the youngster "Gina" (Espaniel Stars N Whispers); and we are thrilled to have our first gold dog at Espaniel "Quinn" (Ashard It's-All-About-Style at Espaniel);

“Aireal” (Ch Ashard A Fine Passion) our lovely gold show girl is now being campaigned by Sharon Pine of Shakoca Kennels in Kirwee. Ari is just one BIS off her Grand Champion title. 

The dogs and I enjoy the show ring and, while sometimes limited by our busy lifestyle, we try to get to a number of South Island shows and the New Zealand National Dog Show each year.

We are a small kennel and produce only a few litters each year, litters are planned for when we are looking to add to our show or breeding team.

We pride ourselves on producing healthy puppies that have a loving temperament, gentle nature and are great family companions.  With the objective of developing the breed type we put emphasis on proven soundness, all breeding stock are physically examined annually by a canine opthalmologist.  We have also recently begun hip scoring.  While good conformation is important for our show dogs, our Cockers are also bred to work as gundogs with correct weather resistant coat and strength for the work of flushing and retrieving.
