Retired and in memoriam
Inverloch Black Jack “Jack” DOB: 30.09.90
Jack was my first cocker. Bred by the late Molly Reesby- Barker of Inverloch Kennels, Geraldine, Jack suffered the trials and tribulations of having a beginner show dog owner. Jack was the dog I learnt on and made many a mistake – thank goodness it was only 6 weeks until his coat would grow back from one of our “grooming” sessions. Jack loved the beach and telephone cords! Jack has since passed away and is remembered with great fondness as an affectionate and energetic dog.

Ashard British Cider “Otis” 26.12.92 – 01.08.96
Otis was my first really serious show dog, a lovely black with attitude to burn. Otis was a real showman and with Puppy and Junior in Show wins was on his way to a successful show career. Otis was only one win away from his Champion title when he suddenly became unwell. Our vet believes that Otis somehow found some poison but despite our best efforts we were unable to save him.

CH Ashard Luck O’ the Irish – “Shae” DOB: 17.03.95
Shae was my first Cocker girl. Shae was pick bitch of a litter of seven gold bitches and one gold dog. She had a successful show career with her biggest win of Reserve Best in Show at the Wellington Spaniel Club Speciality in 1999. In 2003 Shae starred as a “body double” in a “Bollywood” movie playing the part of, (you guessed it), a gold cocker spaniel from India! Shae had two litters producing the lovely bitch Espaniel Sign of the Times (Dixie). Shae is now retired and has been given to a loving family home.
CH Espaniel Sign of the Times – “Dixie” DOB: 03.11.97
Dixie a lovely black bitch from Shae’s first litter had a short but successful show career, always in competition with her mum, Dixie’s wins were hard won. Sadly Dixie’s promise never came through with a litter and she has been rehomed to a loving family home.

CH Ashard Pinot Noir – “Rosa” DOB: 27.06.98
Rosa came to us as a 3 year old with her puppy (Stella). Rosa quickly attained her Champion title and left the show ring for motherly duties. A lovely brood bitch Rosa became a very important part of Espaniel providing a fresh start to our breeding programme producing from her three litters the Champions Stella, Astral, Alpha and the promising gold dog Celtic. Rosa has retired for a well earned rest and she now enjoys a wonderful lifestyle in the Canterbury countryside with her new family.
CH Espaniel Written in the Stars,
“Astral” DOB: 25.07.02
Sister of Alpha by our Stud Dog “Buzz” (NZ CH Clarevale Bee Sting) out of “Rosa” (CH Ashard Pinot Noir) Astral has retired from the show ring and is now living in a family home.
Espaniel Must Be Ms Mirth,
“Mollie” DOB: 16.04.04
Mollie Junior in Show under Mr Franz Neuwrith of Puerto Rico was the highlight of her show career. Mollie is by Hamish” (CH Ashard Must Be Hamish), out of “Astral” (Ch Espaniel Written in the Stars). Deciding to keep our promising youngster Aireal meant we had to make room in our kennel, we have found a lovely home for Mollie where she has settled in like she owns the place.
ANZ CH Espaniel New Years Expose at Ashard,
